Basic information about silicon metal

Silicon metal, also known as crystalline silicon or industrial silicon. It is a product made from quartz and coke melted in an electric furnace. Its silicon content is about 98%. Other impurities are iron, aluminum, calcium and so on. Metallic silicon is mainly used as an additive for non-ferrous alloys.

Basic information about silicon metal powder

Silicon metal physically grounded into very fine particles or powder, becomes silicon metal powder. It is also known as industrial silicon powder.

The content grade of silicon metal powder is the same as that of silicon metal. According to the needs of customers, different sizes can be customized. Such as 10-160 mesh, 20-160 mesh, 30-100 mesh, 40-120 mesh, 60-180 mesh, 200 mesh, 325 mesh and so on.

Silicon metal & powder uses:

1.Pure silicon metal is mainly used in the aluminum industry. Aluminum alloy ingot production, as additive of silicon content.

2.Dioxidizer in steelmaking as replacement of ferrosilicon.

3.Metallic silicon powder can be widely used in refractory and powder metallurgy industries. Used to improve heat resistance, wear resistance and oxidation resistance.

4.Industrial silicon powder can be used in the organosilicon chemical industry. It is the basic raw material for the formation of silicone polymers.

5.Metal silicon powder is an important raw material for integrated circuits and electronic components. Industrial silicon powder is sublimated to monocrystalline silicon, which is widely used in high-tech fields.
